Posten i Ugerløse

Det danske postvæsen blev oprettet af Kong Christian d. IV i 1624 – dengang blev der dog ikke hverken omdelt post eller åbnet posthus i Uggerløse. Sognets første postbud var måske Christen Andersen, som døde i 1859. En gang om ugen gik han til Holbæk, for at hente breve, pakker og aviser til sognets få beboere.

Efter hans død blev postruten overtaget af Ane Marie Christensen (eller PostMarie fra Ubberup). Hun gik til Holbæk tre gange om ugen, og hentede posten i to vidjekurve, som hun bar i et åg over skuldrene. Men hun fragtede også apotekersager og hvedebrød, så det var en blandet landhandel hun havde.

Den 1. juli 1861 blev Uggerløse Brevsamlingssted oprettet hos købmand Aagesen (der boede sammen med kroen), der hvor Dagli’Brugsen i dag har til huse. Omkring 1880 blev der oprettet en diligencerute fra Holbæk til Ringsted via Uggerløse. Diligencens hovedkvarter kom til at ligge hos Købmand Aagesen i Uggerløse, som også havde rejsestald til hestene.

Begge postkørere boede også i byen – men vi ved kun hvem den ene var. De sørgede for at både post og passagerer kom til og fra Uggerløse.

Da diligencenkørslen ophørte i 1895 flyttede posthuset til Uggerløse skole, hvor lærer P. C. Møller blev betroet posthusforretningerne. Da han døde i 1910 overtog hans datter, Julie Bolette Møller byens posthus. Hun var byens ”postmester” frem til 1921, hvor Lars Jørgensen tog over.

Den 1. juni 1923 overtog frk. Valborg Jensen ”postmester-embedet”, og hun blev på posten i mere end 40 år.

Ugerløses tredje og sidste poststempel - nu med kun et G. Stemplet blev benyttet fra 1934 og frem til 1992, hvor det selvstændige posthus lukker og flytter i Dagli'Brugsen.

Den 1. september 1963 fik slagtermester H. Christian Pedersen overdraget hvervet som postbestyrer i Ugerløse. Han var nabo til Valborg Jensen, og måske derfor den nærmeste til at overtage byens posthus. På Hovedgaden 12 havde Christian Pedersen og hans kone, Ellen Pedersen, nu posthuset i deres tidligere slagterforretning sammen med deres private hjem.

 

Den 1. oktober  1979 åbner posthuset i ny-renoverede lokaler i Hovedgaden 17 med Anette Marie Jensen som postbestyrer. Hun havde tidligere arbejdet på posthuset i Tølløse – men var opvokset i Ugerløse, og ville gerne hjem til byen.

I baglokalet på Hovedgaden 17 var sorteringsrum og pakkelokale – og her huserede de fire postbude. Hver morgen kl. 06.00 ankom rutebilejer Sigvald Jensen med dagens post fra Tølløse, og den blev så sorteret og omdelt til alle kunderne i byen og på landet.

I 1992 lukkede posthuset på Hovedgaden 17 og flyttede tilbage til Dagli’Brugsen (hvor det hele var startet i 1861). Samtidig blev byens postbude overflyttet til Tølløse Postekspedition – der var ikke længere så mange posthusforretninger, at det kunne betale sig at have et selvstændigt posthus.

Den 6. maj 2014 lukkede Ugerløse Posthus for alle posthusforretninger. Der blev ikke længere sendt så mange breve og pakker, og antallet af indbetalinger var faldet til ca. 50 om måneden – det var ikke nok til at opretholde et posthussystem. Man kan dog stadig købe et frimærke ved kassen, hvor man også betaler alle de andre af Brugsens varer. Byens ene postbud henter post og pakker i Hvalsø, og omdeler det i bil og på knallert. Post og pakker til landet omdeles i bil af et andet postbud, som også henter posten i Hvalsø. (fra 5. oktober 2015 hentes posten i Holbæk og omdeles udelukkende i bil).
